“A poundingly vital elegy to the vicissitudes of love” Arts Hub

World Premiere | Chunky Move, September 2010, Melbourne Australia
Commissioned through Chunky Move’s acclaimed Next Move Program.

Mix Tape is about love. Driven by an eclectic and personal set of songs as well as recorded interviews, this dance work cleverly illuminates experiences of regret, desire, ecstasy and disillusionment. Commissioned through Chunky Move’s Next Move Program.

Mix Tape reveals both the sublime and mundane facets of love in daily life – how we choose each other and the substance of our attraction. Winner of the Green Room Awards for Best Dance Work and Best Male Dancer (Tim Ohl) in 2011, Mix Tape enjoyed a sold-out premiere season.

“Lake intersperses highly technical sequences with a rough and ready energy. The four dancers tumble, hiss, foot stomp and push each other around with whip sharp precision. Nostalgic, angsty, youthful and ultimately optimistic.”
